Focus of the talk will be the career steps of Benjamin that led to founding a bioanalytical service provider and the ups and downs of leading a contract research business in the pharmaceutical industry. After receiving his Ph.D. in differential protein analysis Benjamin worked as application specialist and team leader at an analytical service provider. Certain events led to the founding of a new company in Bielefeld.
Starting a business without any venture capital proved to be a good decision despite the obstacles that had to be overcome. As this founding model requires a positive cash flow from the start, a low and effective cost structure is of great importance. Benjamin will describe how the company managed the first years in this difficult situation and how Biofidus evolved to a successful business model.
Benjamin Mueller studied molecular biotechnology in Bielefeld and received his Ph.D. at the institute of cell culture technology at Bielefeld University where he investigated differential analysis of the phosphoproteome of apoptotic Jurkat cells.
From 2013 to 2015 he worked first as an application specialist for mass spectrometry and later as team leader for mass spectrometry and glycosylation analysis at Protagen Protein Services in Dortmund. In 2015 he co-founded the contract research company Biofidus in Bielefeld and has been leading it as CEO until now.
